Rachel’s experience in delivering what is best for projects and work programmesto enhance the reputation of project teams and organisations has come through effectively managing a wide variety of projects ranging from new builds to refurbishments and seismic upgrades.
Rachel is a professional, positive and engaged leader and team member who is driven to achieve project objectives and outcomes. An acknowledgement of her commitment to projects and project teams was highlighted when she was selected as a finalist for the Project Management Institute of New Zealand (PMINZ) 2013 Project Manager of the Year Award.
Rachel was the Project Manager of the $39 million refurbishment of Central Park Apartments and $25 million refurbishment of Newtown Park Apartments withWCC’s City Housing. These projects transformed seismically prone and outdated social housing to reconfigured, refurbished modern apartments with common facilities and award winning landscapes. The refurbishment of both sites involved complex structural, services and architectural reconfigurations and along with asbestos and ground issues took focus and attention to detail to manage within time and budget constraints. Stakeholder management was a key component of all work within City Housing, sites were staged to allow occupancy of some zones while construction progressed in others. Rachel managed difficult situations with respect, clarity and integrity.
With the Department of Corrections, Rachel was responsible for starting and delivering the Community Corrections Sites (CCS) upgrade programme. Rachel established consistent and transparent procurement and project delivery processes and engaged with internal and external stakeholders to deliver of fit for purpose facilities for staff and offenders within tight budget and time constraints, across New Zealand.
