UK's Tallest All-Residential Building Offered to Indonesian Investors

Jones Lang LaSalle Indonesia to represent developer during exclusive preview event in Jakarta

Jakarta, 23 November 2011 – The Tower, a high-end residential project in London, which will become one of the tallest all-residential buildings in Europe, was presented to Indonesian investors during an exclusive preview held in Jakarta at the Shangri-La on Wednesday 23 November 2011.
Jones Lang LaSalle Indonesia together with Globe Asia are jointly hosting the event, which aimed to reach out to Indonesian buyers who seek premium investments in prime locations such as the London riverfront.
The Tower will set a new standard of luxury for London’s South Bank, which has generated strong interest from high net-worth buyers across the world.  Rising 180m into the sky and boasting some of the most spectacular views across London’s famous skyline, including Westminster, the City and beyond, The Tower will feature 223 highly specified riverside homes, providing one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, along with two exclusive duplex penthouses and one unique triplex penthouse.
Residents and guests of The Tower will experience a hotel style service provided by Harrods Estates Asset Management with a greeting doorman, 24-hour concierge, and a dedicated valet service for parking.  Providing another level of luxury, residents of The Tower, One St George Wharf, will have exclusive access to a residents-only health club with state of the art gym, infinity swimming pool, sauna and steam room as well as a private screening room, meeting room facility, business lounge, underground car park and private catering facilities.

Lucy Rumantir, Chairman of Jones Lang LaSalle Indonesia comments: “This event is one example of the increasing interest of foreign developers to tap into high net worth individuals in Indonesia who are known to have a strong appetite for overseas investments, as seen in the Singapore residential market. We expect to see strong interest in this product because prime London real estate continues to perform well and the fact that there are no capital gains tax and no restrictions on foreign ownership. This makes London residential property uniquely suitable to Indonesian investors.”
Buyers from Asia Pacific purchased 47% of all apartments sold in London in 2010 and with the continued strong growth of the Indonesian economy, Indonesian investors are increasingly interested and able to take advantage of investment and lifestyle opportunities in the UK.
Mark Griffiths, Managing Director of St George South London comments: “This exclusive scheme will appeal to a truly international audience as London is still recognised as the world capital and attracts investment from a global audience.
As well as being one of the most exclusive residencies in London, The Tower is also one of the most environmentally sustainable buildings of its type. It will feature a series of green initiatives such as a wind-turbine on its roof and the use of the water from the London Aquifer to provide heat and cooling. Through a sophisticated glazing system, The Tower will use just 30 per cent of the gas or electricity energy of a comparable building, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by between 30 and 60 per cent.
