Jones Lang LaSalle Japan acquires supply chain consulting firm and establishes specialized industrial and logistics leasing team

TOKYO, 02 December 2013 -Jones Lang LaSalle K.K. (NYSE: JLL) has announced the acquisition of Op’ex Consulting Inc., a consulting firm specialized in supply chain management.  Op’ex has a strong track record of advising large companies, both domestic and overseas, on developing their logistic strategy and building a supply chain. Hiroyuki Suzuki, President of Op’ex will head the Supply Chain & Logistics Consulting department.

At the same time the firm has further strengthened its Industrial & Logistics Services business with the appointment of Tsuyoshi Yamada to establish its Industrial and Logistics Occupier Services team.

JLL Japan Managing Director Toshinobu Kasai said: “We anticipate that demand for industrial and logistic properties will continue to increase in Japan. Jones Lang LaSalle’s global network, combined with Hiroyuki Suzuki’s knowledge and extensive experience in domestic logistics and supply chain management, will allow us to provide clients with the services that they require and will strengthen our position in this expanding and competitive market.”

The Japanese logistic market is currently expanding at a fast pace, as a result of the growth of e-commerce and 3PL companies, as well as the listing of a series of REITs (Real Estate Investment Trust) that invest in logistic facilities. As a result of this increased activity, demand for advisors specialised in supply chain and logistics has increased from domestic and foreign companies and investors alike.

Prior to establishing Op’ex and providing supply chain management consulting services to leading companies, Hiroyuki Suzuki worked in the overseas division of a major electronics manufacturer, in a major foreign management consulting firm, and as a Board Member of a leading Japanese distribution company. In his new position at Jones Lang LaSalle, Mr Suzuki will play a central role in leading the supply chain management consulting business.

Tsuyoshi Yamada, who will lead the new Industrial and Logistics Occupier Services team has 20-years of experience in real estate and the logistics industry, both domestically and internationally, and will work closely with Hiroyuki Suzuki and the Supply Chain & Logistics Consulting team.
