Jones Lang LaSalle Australia makes two new Corporate Finance hires to meet changing  trends in Australian Real Estate investment

Jones Lang LaSalle recruits real estate private equity experts in Sydney to expand its Asia Pacific platform and range of services

AUSTRALIA, 31 JANUARY 2013 – Jones Lang LaSalle’s regional Corporate Finance team has made two new and significant appointments in Sydney. Chris Key has been appointed as Head of Corporate Finance, Australia to oversee the new expanded platform nationally.    He will start in the role on 4th Feb.  A further senior appointment, Kivanch Mehmet has joined as Director of Corporate Finance, Australia.

These appointments are part of the firm’s global strategy to expand its dedicated Corporate Finance service offering beyond traditional fund and capital raising, to include specialist advisory skills in real estate M&A, Corporate Advisory, Joint Venture, co-investment and partnership structuring.

Jones Lang LaSalle, through its Corporate Finance group is also expanding its Debt advisory and transactional services globally, again, as a response to an increased demand from the investment community in Real Estate Debt as an alternative.  Mr Key and Mr Mehmet will play a key role in this within Asia Pacific.

Mr Key has 12 years of real estate investment banking and funds management experience, most recently having spent six years in the real estate corporate advisory team at Macquarie Capital, which is recognised as the leading real estate capital business in the Australian market.

Mr Mehmet has 12 years of financial services, investment banking and funds management experience, most recently at National Australia Bank where he was a director in NAB’s Property Equity and Advisory business.

Managing Director, Investments & Advisory, Jones Lang LaSalle Australia, John Talbot said, “This is an exciting expansion of the business for us.  Chris and Kivanch will spearhead our Corporate Finance activity in Australia.”

“Chris has an impressive track record of success in mergers and acquisitions, private equity raising, listed capital raising and cross border transactions.  He has represented clients including Charter Hall, Goodman, Macquarie and Australand.  His depth of experience brings to Jones Lang LaSalle the ability to provide a broader suite of services and capabilities to clients to complement the property services we are already well known for.  It allows us to advise clients in both the direct markets and indirect real estate markets, as well as at a corporate level.”

“Kivanch joins us from NAB where he played a significant role in facilitating equity capital raising, JV deal structuring and fund advisory.  His clients included GPT, Grocon, Grosvenor, Aviva Investors and Bunnings.  Kivanch spent four years working in Corporate Finance in London, including for Jones Lang LaSalle, so it is great to welcome him back to the firm,” said Mr Talbot.

Stuart Crow, Head of Capital Markets Asia Pacific, Jones Lang LaSalle, said: "We are refocusing and growing our specialist Corporate Finance team across Asia Pacific to reflect and be able to service changing global investor demand.  While many groups continue to invest through funds or listed vehicles, many of the world’s biggest investors want to co-invest in club deals, M&A or joint ventures alongside operating partners.  The ability to source and structure transactions will be a tremendous complement to our already established unlisted fund raising and advisory services in Australia.

“We are in the process of significantly growing this service offering to clients and will be shortly announcing further key hires to join the regional team.  Chris and Kivanch will play key roles within our regional team and will also provide Australian investors seeking to invest offshore with an important linkage to our global network.”

Jones Lang LaSalle’s Corporate Finance team is part of the firm’s 300 strong Capital Markets business across Asia Pacific.

The Corporate Finance team encompasses the following key business activities:
