Established in China since1992, Microsoft’s fast growth in revenue and its large workforce have stretched its Greater China operations. Consequently, the software, services and solutions leader wanted to build two new R&D campuses in Beijing and Shanghai to accommodate its Greater China expansion.
Microsoft’s vision was to set up high-quality campus facilities that feature new technologies and promote a healthy environment. However, in order to focus on its core business, the company turned to Jones Lang LaSalle’s Research, Corporate Capital Markets, Tenant Representation, Transactions Management and PDS teams to manage the design, fit-out and construction of the new facilities.
With our ability to seamlessly leverage global best practices, our specialists from the different teams provided Microsoft with recommendations on mitigating risks as well as managing costs.
Upon project completion, the built-to-suit project achieved costs reductions equivalent to USD 1.7 million per annum - proving that our tailored solutions had given Microsoft the most effective real estate delivery platform available.
