Case Study

Delivering affordable sustainable buildings with Lend Lease

Lend Lease decided to build a 9,000-sqm commercial building in Victoria Harbour that’s designed to meet the highest environmentally responsible standards. The building, which was named The Gauge, is intended to be a showpiece for Lend Lease, demonstrating the organisation’s ability to deliver sustainable buildings at reasonable rates. To do this, Lend Lease used key environmental initiatives and showed that a clever design can overcome the cost perception of putting up sustainable buildings.

As the exclusive leasing and marketing agent, Jones Lang LaSalle was initially engaged to market the building to potential tenants. But as the project progressed, our project leasing role was expanded into design and planning input, relationship management with tenants and developer and negotiation strategies.

Upon its completion in April 2008, The Gauge was fully leased and is currently one of a handful of office developments in Australia that have achieved a world’s best practice rating for sustainability. In addition, the building was awarded the Green Building Council’s highest rating for office design – 6 Star Green Star.
